Do you need a different visa for Vienna, Salzburg, or Innsbruck?
No. Austria sets the requirements, so entering through Vienna asks for the same as entering through Salzburg or Innsbruck. If you're arriving overland or through a small border post, check that separately: some countries apply their own rules to specific crossings.
What does change is where you file the application when a visa is needed, and that depends on the country you live in rather than the city you're travelling to.
What draws travelers to Austria
Austria alternates imperial cities and the Alps. Vienna, a World Heritage site, concentrates the Habsburg palaces (Schönbrunn, the Hofburg), the museums and coffee-house culture, itself Intangible Heritage. Salzburg, baroque and on the Salzach river, is the city of Mozart and The Sound of Music, with the best-preserved fortress in Central Europe. Around it, the Salzkammergut lake district and the postcard village of Hallstatt. The Tyrol and the Danube valley in the Wachau — vineyards, castles and abbeys, also World Heritage — round out the country. Austria has 9 UNESCO World Heritage sites. A week covers Vienna, Salzburg and the lakes. Summer is the season for hiking and music (the Salzburg Festival in August); winter is for skiing in the Tyrol and Advent markets.
