Digital nomad visa

Digital nomad visas: which countries offer one and how to apply with your passport

A digital nomad visa lets you live in another country for a while as you work remotely, almost always for companies or clients based outside it. Each country sets its own conditions, usually a minimum income and health insurance, sometimes a degree or work experience. How you apply also depends on your passport: if you enter without a tourist visa you can often apply once you are in the country, and if you need one you usually go through a consulate first. These are the programmes of 12 countries, taken from their official sources.

Once you choose your passport, each country shows whether you can apply and whether you enter without a tourist visa.

Insurance, where the work comes from and eligible passports

9 of the 12 programmes require health insurance, and in several of them ordinary travel insurance does not count. Most require the work to be for companies or clients outside the country; Italy, on the other hand, also accepts Italian employers. Argentina and Colombia only accept passports that enter without a tourist visa. Figures tied to a minimum wage, such as those of Spain, Portugal or Colombia, change every year.

Greece also has a digital nomad visa. We have left it out because we have not found an up-to-date official source for its conditions.
