Ireland is a member of the European Union but not the Schengen Area: it maintains its own border regime within the Common Travel Area it shares with the United Kingdom, so the Schengen 90/180-day rule does not apply when entering Ireland. Do you need a different visa for Dublin, Cork, or Galway?
No. Ireland sets the requirements, so entering through Dublin asks for the same as entering through Cork or Galway. If you're arriving overland or through a small border post, check that separately: some countries apply their own rules to specific crossings.
What does change is where you file the application when a visa is needed, and that depends on the country you live in rather than the city you're travelling to.
What draws travelers to Ireland
Ireland is best driven around its edge: the west coast holds almost all the scenery. The Cliffs of Moher, the Ring of Kerry, the Dingle peninsula and Connemara are stages on the Wild Atlantic Way. In the south-west, County Cork and the city of Galway as a cultural base. Dublin, the capital, is a city of literature — Joyce, Wilde, Beckett — with Trinity College and the Book of Kells. The great prehistoric heritage is Brú na Bóinne, with the mounds of Newgrange (5,000 years old, older than the pyramids), a World Heritage site; the country's other site is the island monastery of Skellig Michael. Ireland has 2 UNESCO World Heritage sites. A week covers Dublin plus a stretch of the west coast. May to September has more daylight and less rain, but expect showers in any month.
