You can get your visa on arrival in Namibia, but it's worth preparing the paperwork ahead of time:
Authorisation system
Visa on arrival or e-Visa for the reciprocity list (since April 2025)
Since 1 April 2025, nationals of the countries on the Namibian Interior Ministry's reciprocity list (Spain, almost all of the EU, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia and several African and Latin American countries, among others) need a tourist visa. It can be applied for online before travel or on arrival at designated ports of entry, including Hosea Kutako airport in Windhoek and Walvis Bay. The authorities recommend the e-visa because of queues for the arrival visa: it arrives by email in about 24 hours and must be carried printed, as it is not accepted on a phone. It costs 1,600 Namibian dollars (about 78 euros) for non-Africans and 1,200 for Africans; children aged 6 to 11 pay 800 and under-6s pay nothing. It allows multiple entries for the period requested. Work or volunteering requires a different visa or permit.

Required documents
- Passport valid for at least six months from the return date, with three blank pages.
- Visa application form (the arrival visa form is handed out on the flight) or a printed e-Visa with a readable QR code.
- Return or onward ticket.
- International health insurance covering all medical costs, including repatriation.
- A paid hotel booking or a letter of invitation from your host.
- Financial means: as a guide, 1,200 Namibian dollars (about 60 euros) per day of stay.
- Under-18s: a full birth certificate showing both parents (original or certified copy less than three months old), translated into English. If travelling alone, with one parent or with other adults, also a consent statement from the absent parent made before a notary or the police, translated, and a certified copy of their passport.
- International driving permit to drive or rent a car.
Transit rules
Before leaving the border post, check the length of stay granted and that the entry stamp is correct: immigration checks it on departure. If the visa granted is shorter than the trip, it can be extended at Immigration offices in the country. Anyone arriving or leaving through South Africa with children must also meet South African rules.
