Verified practical details

You don't need a visa to enter Namibia, but here are some practical details worth knowing before you travel:

Required documents

  • Passport valid for at least six months from the return date, with three blank pages.
  • Return or onward ticket.
  • International health insurance covering all medical costs, including repatriation.
  • A paid hotel booking or a letter of invitation from your host.
  • Financial means: as a guide, 1,200 Namibian dollars (about 60 euros) per day of stay.
  • Under-18s: a full birth certificate showing both parents (original or certified copy less than three months old), translated into English. If travelling alone, with one parent or with other adults, also a consent statement from the absent parent made before a notary or the police, translated, and a certified copy of their passport.
  • International driving permit to drive or rent a car.

Transit rules

Before leaving the border post, check the length of stay granted and that the entry stamp is correct: immigration checks it on departure. If the visa granted is shorter than the trip, it can be extended at Immigration offices in the country. Anyone arriving or leaving through South Africa with children must also meet South African rules.
