Entry requirements

Serbia visa requirements for Malaysian citizens

Malaysian citizens need a visa for Serbia and must apply for it before the trip at a consulate or embassy.

Minimum passport validity
90 days after departure

How this visa is processed

Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Jakarta (Jl. Cokroaminoto 109, Central Jakarta) or another Serbian diplomatic mission

A Malaysian needs a visa to enter Serbia. According to the Embassy of Malaysia in Belgrade, the single or multiple-entry visa is applied for at the Embassy of Serbia in Jakarta (Jl. Cokroaminoto 109, Central Jakarta, Indonesia) or at another Serbian diplomatic mission. The embassy refers every application to Serbia's Ministry of Interior, and the answer can take up to four weeks. Holders of a valid visa from the Schengen area, an EU country, the United Kingdom or the United States, or of a residence permit from the Schengen area, the EU or the United States, may enter Serbia visa-free for up to 90 days in a six-month period, always within the validity of that visa or permit.

Verified practical details

You'll need to apply for a visa at a consulate or embassy before travelling. Here are the practical details we've verified:

Required documents

  • Passport valid for at least 90 days after the planned departure from Serbia. Without a valid document entry is refused and the traveller is sent back at their own expense.
  • A document reported lost or stolen that later turned up is still listed as stolen unless the police were told it had been found: Serbian police confiscate it at the border and refuse entry.
  • An entry stamp in the passport: check that it is applied. Leaving Serbia without one can lead to illegal immigration charges.
  • Police registration within 24 hours of arrival (the "beli karton"). Hotels do it for you; in private accommodation you must go to the police station with the owner, and every change of address needs a new registration.

Transit rules

Serbia does not recognise the crossings with Kosovo as international borders. Entering Serbia from Kosovo requires a prior Serbian entry stamp, from Belgrade, Niš or Kraljevo airports or a land border with another country; without one entry is likely to be refused, and travellers coming from Kosovo usually have to go round through North Macedonia. Serbian authorities may also turn away people with Kosovo stamps in their passport, so travellers who can enter on a national ID card should carry it as well.
