Verified practical details
You don't need a visa to enter Samoa, but here are some practical details worth knowing before you travel:
Authorisation system
Free visitor permit on arrival
Travellers who need no prior visa receive a free visitor permit, or business visitor permit, at the border, based on their arrival card. To stay longer, work or study you must apply for an entry permit. The departure tax is usually included in the ticket; flights to American Samoa carry a separate 40-tala tax.
Required documents
- Passport valid for at least six months beyond the planned departure from Samoa.
- A ticket out of the country and, if needed, a visa for the next destination: without them entry is refused.
- The authorities may ask for proof of sufficient funds (a bank statement is accepted), of accommodation and any relevant health certificates.
Transit rules
The authorities are very strict about bringing in plants, fruit, vegetables, soil, animals and animal products, so follow customs instructions to the letter. Bringing pets requires an import permit. Healthcare is not at Spanish standards, and serious cases are flown to Australia or New Zealand.
More Samoa rules
They don't depend on your passport, so they are on the Samoa page:
