Vaccinations

• No mandatory vaccines for general entry. A yellow fever certificate is required from travellers over 9 months of age arriving from a country with risk of transmission.

Customs limits

Cash

Declare (form BC 2.2) if entering or leaving with IDR 100,000,000 or more in cash (or the equivalent in another currency); foreign currency worth IDR 1,000,000,000 or more additionally requires Bank Indonesia authorisation.

Alcohol

1 litre of alcoholic beverages per adult passenger, duty-free.

Tobacco

200 cigarettes, or 25 cigars, or 100 grams of loose tobacco, duty-free.

Overstay penalties

IDR 1,000,000 per day of overstay up to 59 days (Government Regulation PP 28/2019 and Article 78(1) of Immigration Law 6/2011); from 60 days of overstay onward, deportation and an entry ban (blacklist), typically 6 months.

Grounds for refusal

Apply to: Visa-free

• Holding a passport that does not cover at least 6 months of validity from the date of arrival.

Apply to: Visa on arrival, e-Visa

• Giving incorrect information in the visa application: the immigration officer at the port of entry may refuse you entry on that basis, under Article 106 of Minister of Law and Human Rights Regulation No. 44 of 2015.
• Holding a passport that does not cover at least 6 months of validity from the date of arrival.
• What to accept before flying: the issuance of a visitor visa does not guarantee entry. The source says so itself: the visa only shows you are eligible to seek entry for a specific purpose; the decision remains with the immigration officer at the port of entry.
