Electronic Visa on Arrival (e-VOA)

Valid for 30 days from entry, extendable once for 30 more days (60 days maximum) via an online request without visiting an immigration office in person, as long as it's requested and paid before the current period expires.

Fee

IDR 500,000

Same fee for the initial application and for the one allowed extension (IDR 500,000 each time).

Processing time

The e-VOA is issued on arrival (or pre-approved online before travel); the extension is processed online and is usually resolved within a few business days.

Required documents

• A national passport valid for at least 6 months
• Proof of a return or onward ticket to another country
• If you enter on an electronic visa on arrival (e-VOA): it costs IDR 500,000, is single-entry and allows a 30-day stay, extendable once for a further 30 days at an Immigration office for another IDR 500,000

Vaccinations

• No mandatory vaccines for general entry. A yellow fever certificate is required from travellers over 9 months of age arriving from a country with risk of transmission.

Health insurance

Not mandatory for this destination.

Maximum stay of 60 days with the e-VOA (initial 30 days + one 30-day extension).

Customs limits

Cash

Declare (form BC 2.2) if entering or leaving with IDR 100,000,000 or more in cash (or the equivalent in another currency); foreign currency worth IDR 1,000,000,000 or more additionally requires Bank Indonesia authorization.

Alcohol

1 litre of alcoholic beverages per adult passenger, duty-free.

Tobacco

200 cigarettes, or 25 cigars, or 100 grams of loose tobacco, duty-free.

Overstay penalties

IDR 1,000,000 per day of overstay up to 59 days (Government Regulation PP 28/2019 and Article 78(1) of Immigration Law 6/2011); from 60 days of overstay onward, deportation and an entry ban (blacklist), typically 6 months.

Common reasons for denial

• Giving incorrect information in the visa application: the immigration officer at the port of entry may refuse you entry on that basis, under Article 106 of Minister of Law and Human Rights Regulation No. 44 of 2015.
• Holding a passport that does not cover at least 6 months of validity from the date of arrival.
• What to accept before flying: the issuance of a visitor visa does NOT guarantee entry. The source says so itself — the visa only shows you are eligible to SEEK entry for a specific purpose; the decision remains with the immigration officer at the port of entry.
