Do you need a different visa for Lisbon, Porto, or Faro?
No. Portugal sets the requirements, so entering through Lisbon asks for the same as entering through Porto or Faro. If you're arriving overland or through a small border post, check that separately: some countries apply their own rules to specific crossings.
What does change is where you file the application when a visa is needed, and that depends on the country you live in rather than the city you're travelling to.
What draws travelers to Portugal
Portugal breaks neatly into two axes. The Atlantic coast holds Lisbon, Sintra and the Cascais shoreline to the west, and the Algarve to the south with its limestone cliffs and beaches. The northern interior, around Porto and the Douro valley — the world's oldest demarcated wine region and a World Heritage site — is wine country dotted with historic towns such as Guimarães, the nation's birthplace, or Braga. The Madeira and Azores archipelagos, far out in the Atlantic, are separate volcanic-nature destinations. Portugal has 17 UNESCO World Heritage sites for such a small country. A week is enough for Lisbon and its surroundings at an easy pace, or to pair Porto with the Douro. Spring and autumn dodge both the heat and the Algarve's peak season, which packs out in August.
