Bissau-Guinean nationals need a visa for Portugal, and the Portuguese Embassy in Bissau receives Schengen and national visa applications through the VFS Global agency near Hotel Malaika. Appointments are booked online with VFS, and the Embassy says slots open every Friday at 15:00 and that the process includes facial recognition. According to the Embassy's fee table, a Schengen visa costs 90 euros (59,037 CFA francs) for adults, 45 euros (29,519 CFA francs) for ages 6 to 12 and nothing under 6. Family members of EU, EEA or Swiss citizens pay neither the fee nor the service charge. The Embassy asks people to report anyone posing as its staff or charging amounts outside that table.
