Sources: knatravelform.kn (official portal of the Saint Kitts and Nevis electronic border management system: mandatory eTA, OECS exemptions, ED form, 17-dollar fee); exteriores.gob.es (travel advice of Spain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Saint Kitts and Nevis, updated 8 June 2026: passport, 90 days and ticket for Spanish citizens, yellow fever, risk areas); gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/st-kitts-and-nevis (UK Government, updated 5 January 2026: six months for British citizens, extension, arrival by sea, taxes); data.unesco.org (World Heritage List). All checked on 2 October 2026.

This table summarises the exact entry mechanism for every passport we track. The difference between entering visa-free, with an electronic authorisation, with an e-Visa, or with a traditional visa is explained in visa, e-Visa, and electronic authorisation: what's the difference. How we verify every row before publishing it is on methodology.

Saint Kitts and Nevis rules for every passport

Vaccinations, customs limits and penalties are the same for every traveller.

Vaccinations

  • Yellow fever: a certificate is required from travellers over one year of age arriving from a country with risk of transmission.

Overstay penalties

Overstaying or working without a work permit is illegal, according to the UK Government. The amount of the penalties could not be confirmed against national law.

Grounds for refusal

  • Travelling without an approved eTA.
  • No return ticket.
  • A passport with less than six months' validity.
  • Arriving from a yellow fever risk country without the certificate.
What to do if you are refused entry →

Travel insurance

Each destination decides whether to require insurance, and some check it at the border. If yours does, make sure the policy covers the whole trip.

See IATI's international site →

IATI sells its policies according to the country you live in. Where do you live?

If your country isn't listed, try IATI's international site.

Do you need a different visa for Basseterre, Charlestown, or Sandy Point?

No. Saint Kitts and Nevis sets the requirements, so entering through Basseterre asks for the same as entering through Charlestown or Sandy Point. If you're arriving overland or through a small border post, check that separately: some countries apply their own rules to specific crossings.

What does change is where you file the application when a visa is needed, and that depends on the country you live in rather than the city you're travelling to.

What draws travellers to Saint Kitts and Nevis

Saint Kitts and Nevis has one property on the World Heritage List: Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park, inscribed in 1999, a very well preserved fortress designed by the British and built by enslaved Africans, which applies 17th and 18th-century military architecture to the Caribbean. The country is two islands, Saint Kitts and quieter Nevis, and trips are usually split between that colonial history and the beaches. Spain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs flags no risk areas. Roads are not always well kept and traffic drives on the left.
