Do you need a different visa for London, Manchester, or Edinburgh?

No. United Kingdom sets the requirements, so entering through London asks for the same as entering through Manchester or Edinburgh. If you're arriving overland or through a small border post, check that separately: some countries apply their own rules to specific crossings.

What does change is where you file the application when a visa is needed, and that depends on the country you live in rather than the city you're travelling to.

What draws travelers to United Kingdom

The United Kingdom is four nations that make for different trips. London, with its great free museums (the British Museum, the National Gallery), is the usual gateway. England beyond it gathers Bath and its Georgian architecture, Oxford and Cambridge, the stone villages of the Cotswolds, medieval York, the Lake District — all mountains and poetry — and, in the south-west, Cornwall and the Stonehenge stone circle. Scotland offers Edinburgh, the Highlands and the islands (Skye, the Hebrides), with wilder scenery. Wales concentrates medieval castles — Caernarfon, Conwy — and the Eryri (Snowdonia) national park. The country has 35 UNESCO World Heritage sites spread across the four nations. A week covers London and one more area: southern England, or Edinburgh with a taste of the Highlands. May to September is the better window, and June days are very long, but expect rain in any month and don't stake everything on the weather.
