How this visa is processed
UK Visa Application Centre in Tegucigalpa (VFS Global), after applying and paying online on GOV.UK
Until July 2023 Hondurans could visit the United Kingdom without a visa. On 19 July 2023 the British Government imposed one with immediate effect on every Honduran traveller, tourists included, because of the rise in asylum claims made at the border by people who had entered as visitors. Since then a Standard Visitor visa is needed before travelling, and the ETA used by exempt countries is not an option. The application is filled in and paid for online on GOV.UK, no earlier than three months before the trip, and then you book an appointment at the visa application centre in Tegucigalpa, run by VFS Global, to give fingerprints, a photo and your documents. The passport is returned the same day. That centre was opened so Hondurans would not have to travel to another country to apply, and it also handles study and work visas. The British Embassy in Guatemala City, which covers Honduras, does not accept applications or advise on individual cases. A decision usually arrives about three weeks after the appointment.

When travel insurance is mandatory → Travel insurance policies ↓Transit rules
The UK draws a line between two kinds of transit. If you are only changing planes and will not pass through border control, the relevant permission is the Direct Airside Transit visa (DATV), and you stay in the transit area without entering the country. If you do pass through border control but leave the UK within 48 hours, the relevant permission is the Visitor in Transit visa. Staying longer than 48 hours rules both of them out: you then need a Standard Visitor visa. Whether you need a transit visa at all depends on your nationality.
