Do you need a different visa for Tegucigalpa, San Pedro Sula, or Roatan?
No. Honduras sets the requirements, so entering through Tegucigalpa asks for the same as entering through San Pedro Sula or Roatan. If you're arriving overland or through a small border post, check that separately: some countries apply their own rules to specific crossings.
What does change is where you file the application when a visa is needed, and that depends on the country you live in rather than the city you're travelling to.
What draws travelers to Honduras
Honduras brings together Maya heritage, tropical rainforest and the world's second-largest coral reef. Copán, near the Guatemalan border, is the Maya city with the most refined sculpture and epigraphy of the Classic period: its Hieroglyphic Stairway, with over 2,000 glyphs, is the longest known Maya inscription. It has been a World Heritage site since 1980. The Río Plátano Biosphere Reserve, in the Mosquitia, is one of the last large blocks of tropical rainforest in Central America and also a World Heritage site, though it has been on the List of World Heritage in Danger since 2011 due to deforestation and illegal settlement — access is logistically complex and best done with a local operator. On the north coast, the Bay Islands (Roatán, Utila, Guanaja) sit on the Mesoamerican Reef and are one of the cheapest diving destinations in the Caribbean. Honduras has 2 UNESCO World Heritage sites. Spain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs keeps a caution level for crime, advises against night road travel and extra care in Tegucigalpa, San Pedro Sula and La Ceiba; in 2026 the Honduran government ruled out a nationwide state of exception but keeps it available for specific areas.
