Entry requirements

Argentina visa requirements for Antiguan citizens

Antiguan citizens need a visa for Argentina and must apply for it before the trip at a consulate or embassy.

Minimum passport validity
No minimum: it just has to be valid

How this visa is processed

Electronic Travel Authorization (AVE) from the National Directorate of Migration, for US visa holders

Citizens of Antigua and Barbuda need a visa for tourism in Argentina, unless they hold a valid United States visa in category B1, B2, J, O, P (P1, P2 or P3), E or H-1B. With it they can apply online to the National Directorate of Migration for the Electronic Travel Authorization (AVE), because Antigua and Barbuda is on the list of eligible nationalities. The US visa must stay valid while the AVE is processed, while it is valid and for the whole stay. The AVE is valid for three months from issue, allows three months from the first entry with multiple entries and exits, and Migration decides on it within 20 working days.

Verified practical details

You'll need to apply for a visa at a consulate or embassy before travelling. Here are the practical details we've verified:

Authorisation system

AVE: Electronic Travel Authorisation

The AVE is the electronic route that Argentina's National Migration Directorate offers to nationals of more than seventy countries who would otherwise need a tourist visa. Nationality alone is not enough: you must also hold a valid US visa in category B2, J, B1, O, P (P1, P2 or P3), E or H-1B, or show that you entered the United States within the previous two years. Once issued it is valid for three consecutive months, allows multiple entries and exits, and can be extended for a further equal period.

Fee

Tourist entry has no fee for the passports we track (no paid electronic authorisation system like an ETA/eVisa). There's a fee of roughly ARS 40,000 for regularisation when leaving the country after overstaying: see sanciones_overstay.

Processing time

Argentina's National Migration Directorate must decide an AVE application within twenty working days for the tourist subcategory.

Required documents

  • A valid passport, or a valid identity card or travel document from your country of origin
  • If you are a national of Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay or Uruguay (Mercosur member states) or of Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Panama, Peru or Suriname (associated states), you may enter as a tourist without a visa for up to 90 days on your identity document
  • The authorised tourist stay is up to three months, extendable for a further equal period. Entering as a tourist does not entitle you to paid work

Transit rules

General 90-day tourist stay, extendable once for another 90 days through Migraciones (approximate fee not verified against an official source).
