What you need to enter Venezuela with a Colombian passport

Fee

Only applies to nationalities that need a tourist visa. The exact amount varies by the issuing Diplomatic or Consular Representation and hasn't been verified specifically; the official site explicitly refers applicants to check with each consulate.

Required documents

• Passport valid for at least 6 months
• Two recent color passport-style photos
• Bank letter or statement showing account details and balance
• Employment letter (tenure, position, and salary)
• Property ownership documentation, if applicable

Vaccinations

• No mandatory vaccines for entering Venezuela. The yellow fever vaccine is recommended for travellers over 9 months of age, except those limiting their trip to Caracas, Valencia, Margarita Island, the states of Aragua, Carabobo, Miranda, Vargas, Yaracuy, Falcón and Lara, or the Capital District. Some countries require the certificate from travellers who have previously been in risk areas of Venezuela.

Transit rules

As a tourist, the authorized stay is up to 90 days, extendable for an equal period at the migration authority's discretion; once that period is exceeded without having requested the extension, deportation applies. A verified particularity for Schengen-area passport holders: the tourism visa exemption only applies when entering by air; entering by land still requires a tourist visa.

Customs limits

Cash

Declare to SENIAT and prove the lawful origin of the funds if carrying more than US$10,000 in cash, via Customs Form 82 (Baggage Registration and Declaration Form). The rule doesn't prohibit carrying that amount or more, it only requires declaring it.

Alcohol

There's no specific liter limit published by SENIAT: alcohol and tobacco for personal use fall within the general duty-free allowance for new items of up to US$1,000 per person (between US$1,000 and US$2,000 a reduced tariff applies).

Tobacco

Same criterion as alcohol: included within the general value-based duty-free allowance (up to US$1,000 duty-free), with no maximum unit count for cigarettes/cigars specifically published by SENIAT.

Overstay penalties

Per official sources (SAIME, Ministry of People's Power for Foreign Affairs), a tourist who exceeds the authorized 90-day stay without having requested the extension under Art. 9 of the Foreigners Law is subject to deportation. No specific, officially verified monetary fine amount was found for this scenario.

Common reasons for denial

• Arriving with a passport that does not have at least six months of validity, issued by a competent authority.
• Arriving with less than ninety days of passport validity counted from the moment of entry into Venezuelan territory: it is an additional requirement to the previous one and is checked at the border.
• Needing a visa for your nationality and not holding a valid one at the moment of entry.
• On the stay itself: a tourist may remain up to ninety days, extendable by an equal period at the discretion of the competent body. Once it runs out you must leave the country, on pain of deportation.
