Verified practical details

You don't need a visa to enter Brunei, but here are some practical details worth knowing before you travel:

Authorisation system

Visa exemption up to 90 days and online arrival card (e-Arrival)

Since 2024 all travellers arriving by land, sea or air must register online in advance with the electronic arrival card, which airlines may ask for at check-in; it is not needed by those who do not pass through immigration. You must also complete the Ministry of Health's health declaration form before or on arrival. Work, study or longer stays require the relevant visa or permit.

Required documents

  • Passport valid for at least six months, undamaged and with no pages missing. The authorities are strict: with less than six months, even by a few days, entry can be refused and the traveller detained.
  • Electronic arrival card (e-Arrival) completed before travel.
  • Health declaration form, before or on arrival.
  • An entry stamp in the passport: check that it is applied. Land border posts are not open 24 hours.

Transit rules

Dual nationals must enter and leave on the same passport, because that determines their nationality in Brunei, and Brunei does not recognise dual nationality for its own citizens. Before leaving a land or sea border post, check that the entry and exit stamps are correct.
