Verified practical details
You don't need a visa to enter Barbados, but here are some practical details worth knowing before you travel:
Authorisation system
Visa exemption up to 90 days in 180 and online entry form
All travellers must complete the immigration and customs form online before arrival. On arrival, immigration tells you how long you may stay; to extend it you must apply and pay for an extension at the Immigration Department. Working requires a work permit, and the "welcome stamp" visa allows you to live on the island for up to 12 months while working remotely for an employer abroad.
Required documents
- Passport valid for the whole stay.
- Onward or return ticket: without one, entry is refused.
- Immigration and customs form completed online before arrival.
- Departure taxes: 55 Barbados dollars (about USD 27.50) per passenger aged 2 and over, plus USD 70 for flights leaving the Caribbean. Most airlines include them in the ticket.
Transit rules
The hurricane and tropical storm season runs from June to November. Smoking has been banned in all public places since October 2010, punishable by a fine, prison or both.
