How this visa is processed
Embassy of Senegal in Washington (2215 M St NW, Washington DC 20037), accredited to Mexico: in person or by registered mail
A Mexican needs a visa to enter Senegal as a tourist. The exemption list Senegal has applied since 1 May 2015 covers the United States, Canada, the European Union and a number of African and Asian countries, but not Mexico. Senegal has no embassy in Mexico: according to the travel guide of Mexico's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the accredited embassy is the one in Washington. That embassy charges nothing for the visa, which barring exceptions allows at most 90 days, and processes it in two or three working days if the file arrives complete. It can be handed in person, Monday to Friday from 10:30 to 13:30, or sent by registered mail with a prepaid registered return envelope for the passport. You need a passport valid for at least six months from entry, two copies of the photo page, the signed form in two originals, two colour photos on a white background less than six months old, a hotel booking or an invitation letter and two copies of the ticket or flight booking. Documents must be in French or English. The embassy warns that some nationalities go through a longer special procedure and asks applicants to write first to contact@ambasenegal-us.org stating the country that issued their passport. The yellow fever vaccine is not compulsory, but it is strongly recommended.
