Authorisation system

Online visa (evisa.gov.ss) or from an embassy

A visa is required to enter or transit the country. It can be requested on the evisa.gov.ss platform, which sometimes fails, or at a South Sudanese embassy. Extensions are handled in person at the Ministry of the Interior in Juba. According to the UK Government, anyone staying five days or more must register at a police station.

Required documents

  • Passport with at least six months' validity and two unstamped pages.
  • A visa obtained before travel.
  • International yellow fever vaccination certificate, which may be checked at the airport.

Transit rules

A specific permit is needed to use photo or video cameras.
