Authorisation system
Citizenship and Immigration Control electronic visa
The visa is no longer issued at the border. It is requested on the official immigration portal, with supporting documents in English: immigration replies by email with an authorisation letter with a barcode, which must be printed and shown on arrival, where the visa is issued. The authorisation expires 90 days after approval, so travel within that period or apply again. The tourist visa is single entry and can be granted for up to three months. There is also the East African tourist visa, multiple entry for 90 days, for Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda.

Fee
50 USD
Single-entry tourist visa. It is non-refundable and carries a bank charge. The East African tourist visa (Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda, 90 days) costs USD 100.
Required documents
- Copy of the passport data page, valid for at least six months.
- Travel plan, itinerary or bookings, and hotel reservation or accommodation address.
- Recent passport-size photograph.
- Printed authorisation letter to show on arrival, and the paper yellow fever certificate in case immigration asks for it.
Transit rules
To stay longer than granted, you must request an extension from the Immigration Department, which has its own portal for it. At Entebbe airport only ticketed passengers may enter the terminal, so anyone meeting you waits outside. Since 27 May the border with the Democratic Republic of the Congo has been closed because of Ebola, with limited exceptions, and some countries apply health screening to travellers arriving from Uganda.
