What you need to enter Jordan with a Tunisian passport

Authorization system

Jordan Pass (Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities)

It includes prepaid entry to more than 40 attractions across the country — Petra, Jerash and Wadi Rum among them — and waives the tourist entry visa fee if bought before arriving in Jordan and staying a minimum of three nights (four days). It costs between 70 and 80 dinars depending on how many days at Petra you choose. Bought on arrival, or with a shorter stay, it does not waive the visa.

Fee

JOD 40.000

Visa on arrival for 40 Jordanian dinars, available at Amman's Queen Alia airport, in Aqaba and at land and sea border crossings. The alternative is the Jordan Pass (70-80 JOD depending on the number of days at Petra), which includes the visa fee on top of entry to more than 40 sites, provided it is bought before travelling and the stay is at least three nights.

Processing time

The visa is issued at the border post on arrival, with no prior procedure. What does have a deadline is what comes afterwards: since October 2025, anyone staying more than 14 days must go to a police station for biometric registration, unless they are travelling on a Jordan Pass.

Required documents

• A passport valid for at least six months at the time of entry.
• The 40 Jordanian dinar visa fee on arrival, or a Jordan Pass bought before travelling with a minimum three-night stay.
• For stays longer than 14 days, biometric registration at a police station (Jordan Pass holders exempt), required since October 2025.

Vaccinations

• No vaccinations are required to enter Jordan. Spain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends the polio vaccine.

Health insurance

Not mandatory for this destination.

Transit rules

The tourist visa is issued for 30 days. It can be extended by up to 60 more days at a police station inside the country. Anyone staying more than 14 days must register biometrically at a police station, a requirement since October 2025, unless travelling on a Jordan Pass. Security warning: Spain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs warns that, in current circumstances and because of the regional conflict, every area of the country carries risk.

Customs limits

Cash

Cash must be declared from 5,000 US dollars upwards.

Alcohol

A maximum of two bottles of alcoholic drinks per person.

Tobacco

No official tobacco allowance published by Jordan's Customs Department on a citable page was found (the portal serves the traveller exemptions section in Arabic only and redirects to the home page): the field is left without a figure rather than presenting a travel-industry number as official. What is confirmed is the ban on exporting antiquities and archaeological remains.

Overstay penalties

Overstaying the visa causes delays on departure and a fine set by the border authorities according to how long the overstay lasted. The way to avoid it is to request the extension at a police station before the 30 days run out. A rate of 1.5 dinars per day of overstay is widely quoted — doubled since July 2025 for certain residence-card holders — but we could not confirm it against an official Jordanian source and do not present it as being in force.

Common reasons for denial

• A passport with less than six months' validity at the time of entry.
• Being unable to pay the 40-dinar visa fee on arrival and not holding a valid Jordan Pass bought before travelling.
• Presenting a Jordan Pass bought once already in Jordan or for a stay of fewer than three nights: in that case it does not waive the visa fee.
• Carrying antiquities or archaeological remains, whose export is banned (it affects departure rather than entry, but it is the country's most common customs incident).
