Verified practical details

The visa is applied for before your trip, and the procedure is Hayya (electronic entry visa). Here are the verified details:

Authorisation system

Hayya (electronic entry visa)

Exempt nationalities need nothing arranged before travel: a multiple-entry permit is issued at the airport, free of charge. Qatar used to call this arrangement "visa on arrival" and now calls it visa-free entry; according to Qatar Tourism, only the name has changed. Nationalities without the exemption apply for an entry visa on the Hayya platform.

Fee

100 QAR

Fee for the entry visa processed on the Hayya platform, according to Qatar Tourism.

Required documents

  • Passport valid for at least six months, according to Spain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the UK Government. Qatar Tourism mentions three months from arrival; six months satisfies both.
  • Return ticket or booking confirmation, which Spain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs lists as required for the entry permit, and a confirmed hotel booking, which Qatar Tourism asks for.
  • For stays longer than 30 days, health insurance bought from an insurer registered with the Qatari Ministry of Public Health, or international cover valid in Qatar that meets local rules. The minimum policy costs 50 riyals per person per month.
  • Qatar does not recognise the provisional passports that consulates issue after loss or theft, unless they carry a visa obtained in advance from a Qatari mission.

Transit rules

Transit through Doha airport without a visa is possible as long as you stay in the international zone and are guaranteed entry at your final destination. According to the UK Government, you cannot spend more than 24 hours in the transit area between flights, even when staying at the airport hotel. Passengers flying Qatar Airways with a layover of at least six hours who are not eligible for visa-free entry can apply for a transit visa at the Discover Qatar desk in the airport; for longer stopovers there is a transit visa of up to four days.
