Guatemala visa requirements for Jordanian citizens

Fee

No entry fee for visa-exempt nationalities (Spain's case). Not verified for nationalities that do require a visa.

Required documents

• Electronic or machine-readable passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry.
• Onward or return ticket.
• Central American Unified Traveler's Declaration (DUCA-F), electronic, mandatory since July 2023 on entry and exit (generates a QR code).
• Check that the immigration officer stamps your passport on entry: there are documented cases of tourists not getting an entry stamp at a land border crossing and later being charged a fine for "irregular stay".

Vaccinations

• No mandatory vaccines for entry: no international certificate of vaccination (yellow fever included) is required under the International Health Regulations — Guatemala isn't on the WHO list of countries with transmission risk.

Health insurance

Not mandatory for this destination.

Transit rules

Stay of up to 90 days, extendable once, shared with the rest of the CA-4 bloc (El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua): the count doesn't reset when crossing from Guatemala into any of those three countries. Important: this is only an internal mobility regime — each CA-4 country sets its own entry visa policy for third countries. Nicaragua unilaterally tightened its own in February 2026, requiring prior authorization from nationalities that previously entered without one; this doesn't change anything about entering Guatemala itself, but it can affect anyone planning to cross from Guatemala into Nicaragua within the same trip.

Customs limits

Cash

Declare to SAT (tax/customs authority) if entering or leaving with US$10,000 (or equivalent) or more in cash, precious metals or securities, specifying the type, value and origin/destination of the funds. Not declaring it can lead to confiscation and money-laundering charges.

Alcohol

Not confirmed via direct fetch to portal.sat.gob.gt (blocks access); several travel sources converge on 5 liters of alcohol for adults — more generous than in other countries in the region, treat as indicative pending official confirmation.

Tobacco

Same caveat as alcohol: converging sources cite 500 grams of tobacco, not directly confirmed against SAT.

Overstay penalties

The Guatemalan Migration Institute charges a fine of Q15.00 (quetzales) per day of overstay beyond the authorized period (and its extension, if any), payable in quetzales or US dollars at the Bank of Guatemala's reference exchange rate, at La Aurora airport, land border crossings or its head office. Anyone who doesn't regularize their situation CANNOT leave the country until they pay. In addition, the Institute can order expulsion from the country and cancel the visa granted, independent of the overstay fine.

Common reasons for denial

• Presenting a passport that is not valid or not in good condition: the manual requires this expressly of third-country nationals.
• Not naming the person or institution vouching for your financial solvency to stay as a tourist.
• Arriving on a consulted visa out of time: its validity for entering the region is 60 days from the date of issue.
• What to accept before flying: holding a granted visa does NOT guarantee admission. The final decision is taken by the migration officer at the port of entry, and the manual says so itself.
