Verified practical details

You don't need a visa to enter Laos, but here are some practical details worth knowing before you travel:

Fee

The official electronic visa portal does not publish the fee in its FAQs, and we have not found it in another official source. The electronic visa fee is not refundable under any circumstances, not even when entering through a non-designated post and having to pay for a visa on arrival as well.

Required documents

  • Passport valid for more than 180 days from arrival with at least two blank pages: airlines will not let you board without them.
  • The Lao Digital Immigration Form (LDIF) within three days before arrival and before departure, or the paper form where it does not apply.
  • Make sure your passport is stamped on entry, to avoid problems on departure. Children and infants also need their own visa.

Health insurance

Not mandatory for this destination.

It isn't listed as mandatory for this entry, but without insurance, medical care during the trip can get expensive.
