Authorisation system
Visa waiver on arrival
Travellers who need no visa receive the waiver on arrival, with a return or onward ticket. Working or studying requires a visa applied for before travel, from the Office of Commerce, Investment and Tourism (OCIT) or the Division of Immigration in Majuro. Citizens of Schengen States are covered by the EU visa waiver agreement, applied provisionally since June 2016, which allows up to 90 days in any 180-day period; Spain's Foreign Ministry, however, mentions 30 days, extendable to 60. Anyone changing planes in a US territory such as Guam or Hawaii also needs an ESTA authorisation.

Required documents
- Passport valid for at least six months (Spain's Foreign Ministry counts from the planned departure), with one blank page for the entry stamp.
- Return or onward ticket.
- Proof of measles vaccination: Spain's Foreign Ministry requires it from 6 months to 62 years old, and the UK Government MMR for children aged 4 and under.
- 20 dollars in cash for the departure tax (2 on domestic flights). Children under 12 and people over 60 are exempt.
Transit rules
Firearms, ammunition and drugs may not be imported, and coral and turtle shell may not be exported; birds, plants and fruit need a certificate from the Quarantine Division. Drug penalties are very severe. Traffic drives on the right, with a 40 km/h limit across the island and many speed bumps that are hard to see at night. There is no public transport, and taxis in Majuro are shared. Some atolls, Bikini above all, still have very high radioactivity.
