Entry requirements

Dominican Republic visa requirements for Filipino citizens

Filipino citizens need a visa for the Dominican Republic and must apply for it before the trip at a consulate or embassy.

Consular fee
10 USD

How this visa is processed

Consular Section of the Embassy of the Dominican Republic in Hanoi (seccionconsularhanoi@mirex.gob.do), with the passport handed in at the Dominican Honorary Consulate in Manila (37 Banaba Road, South Forbes Park, Makati)

A Filipino needs a visa for the Dominican Republic, which has no consular section in the Philippines: the application is handled by the Dominican Embassy in Hanoi. First the requirements for the visa type are completed at servicios360.mirex.gob.do. Then the applicant writes to seccionconsularhanoi@mirex.gob.do with a request letter (full name, passport number and signed form) and all documents scanned. The consular section checks them and replies with the amount and bank details: payment is in US dollars, at the bank or by transfer, and the receipt is also emailed. The passport, original documents and receipt are then handed in at the Dominican Honorary Consulate in Manila, where fingerprints are taken, and sent by DHL to Hanoi. Processing takes at least 15 days from receipt of the complete documents, and there may be an online interview. The Dominican Ministry of Foreign Affairs decides; a flight reservation is enough to apply, without buying the ticket.

Verified practical details

You'll need to apply for a visa at a consulate or embassy before travelling. Here are the practical details we've verified:

Authorisation system

E-Ticket

A mandatory electronic form (migration, customs, and health in one) for every traveller regardless of nationality, before entering or leaving the country: unlike Colombia's CheckMig, this one is legally mandatory. It folds in the former "Tourist Card": since 25 April 2018 it's bundled into air tickets issued outside the DR, so most travellers pay nothing extra on arrival; the card's own reference cost, when handled separately, is USD 10 and authorises a single entry.

Fee

10 USD

USD 10 is the reference cost of the Tourist Card/E-Ticket when handled independently; for the vast majority of travellers arriving on a commercial flight it's already bundled into the ticket issued outside the DR, so it isn't paid separately.

Processing time

Every traveller fills in the E-Ticket, up to 72 hours before you travel and generates the QR code you show at the airport straight away. It is mandatory and free for every nationality, both entering and leaving, and it rolls the immigration, customs and health declarations into one form.

Required documents

  • E-Ticket completed online before travel (migration, customs, and health) at eticket.migracion.gob.do.
  • A visa, applied for at the Dominican embassy or consulate nearest to your place of residence or the one with jurisdiction over it. It is not needed for tourism if you hold permanent residence or a valid multiple entry visa from the United States, the Schengen area, Canada or the United Kingdom: under Decree 691-07, a valid passport and the tourist card are enough.

Health insurance

Not mandatory for this destination.

Transit rules

Tourist stay authorised for up to 30 days; exceeding it carries no penal fine or re-entry ban, only an exit fee calculated by length of overstay (see sanciones_overstay).
