Verified practical details
You don't need a visa to enter Solomon Islands, but here are some practical details worth knowing before you travel:
Authorisation system
Immigration Division electronic visa
The Immigration Division says every short-term visa (visitor, business, crew transit and exemptions) is applied for on its electronic visa portal, from outside the country. Once approved, a grant letter arrives by email and has to be shown on entry. The tourist visa allows stays of three months per entry, with multiple entries over one year. The same Division publishes a mutual exemption with the EU that is also requested online. It is worth checking with the Solomon Islands Embassy in Brussels before travelling.
Apply on the official site →Required documents
- Passport valid for at least six months (Spain's Foreign Ministry counts from the planned departure), with two blank pages.
- Return or onward ticket and sufficient funds.
- Anyone arriving from Australia, New Zealand, American Samoa, Samoa, Tonga, the Philippines, Fiji, Kiribati or Papua New Guinea, even in transit, must have been vaccinated against measles at least 15 days earlier and be able to prove it.
Transit rules
All travellers fill in a health declaration on arrival. Drug possession can carry long prison sentences and possession of pornography fines; homosexuality is punishable by prison. Airlines in the region often cancel or delay flights, so itineraries need some slack. Spain's Foreign Ministry advises against ferries and against going out at night in Honiara, especially on foot.
