Paraguay visa requirements for Thai citizens

Most passports enter Paraguay visa-free and at no cost. The verified amount corresponds to the temporary-stay extension (extending the tourist stay beyond the initial 90 days), in effect since 07/01/2026 per the official migratory fee schedule. For nationalities that do require a consular visa, the fee depends on the issuing consulate and hasn't been verified specifically.

Required documents

• Passport valid throughout the stay in Paraguay
• International Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate, mandatory only for those arriving from Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, or Venezuela (ages 1 to 59; exempt under 1 and over 60)
• Electronic Customs Traveler Declaration (DNIT), mandatory only if carrying US$10,000 or more in cash, traveler's checks, bonds, or other instruments

Vaccinations

• No mandatory vaccines for general entry. An international yellow fever vaccination certificate is required from travellers arriving from Brazil, Bolivia, Peru or Venezuela (ages 1 to 59; exempt under 1 and over 60). The vaccine is also recommended for almost the whole country except the city of Asunción.

Health insurance

Not mandatory for this destination.

Transit rules

As a tourist, the authorized stay is up to 90 consecutive days, extendable once, at the discretion of the National Directorate of Migration, for a period no longer than the one initially granted.

Customs limits

Cash

Declare via the DNIT's Electronic Customs Traveler Declaration if carrying US$10,000 or more in cash, traveler's checks, bonds, shares, or other negotiable instruments (Law No. 1015/97).

Alcohol

There's no specific liter limit published by DNIT: alcohol and tobacco for personal use fall within the general baggage allowance, up to US$1,000 by air or river, or US$300 by land (plus an additional US$500 duty-free shopping benefit).

Tobacco

Same criterion as alcohol: included within the general value-based baggage allowance (up to US$1,000 by air/river or US$300 by land), with no maximum unit count for cigarettes/cigars specifically published by DNIT.

Overstay penalties

Under Art. 87 of Law No. 6984/2022, anyone who exceeds their authorized stay period in Paraguay is fined an amount equivalent to six minimum legal daily wages (Gs. 702,462 as of the verification date), the same amount set for failing to present the entry verification document when leaving the country. The fine can be paid in cash (guaraníes only), by international debit card, or online starting 48 business hours after the infraction.

Common reasons for denial

• Not presenting the required documentation at the control post: a valid identity document or a passport with a consular visa if your country needs one, plus the documents validating your entry.
• Using documentation that is not authentic or whose content is false.
• Having been expelled with the entry ban imposed by the competent authority still in force.
• Being the subject of an international arrest warrant for punishable acts committed abroad.
• Being the subject of an alert issued by the National Migration Directorate or another competent authority.
