Verified practical details
The procedure to complete before you travel is Electronic visa (online pre-registration) or embassy visa. Here's what we've verified about the process:
Authorisation system
Electronic visa (online pre-registration) or embassy visa
For stays of one to three months there are two routes. The first is online: after registering and paying you get the confirmation of approved pre-registration ("pré-enrôlement approuvé"), which must be printed and shown to the airline and at Abidjan airport, where the visa is issued. Without it, entry can be refused and the traveller sent back. The second is in person at a mission of Côte d'Ivoire. The UK Government advises applying for the e-visa at least 10 working days before travel.

Fee
€73
Fee for the online application as given by Spain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Processing time
The e-Visa is applied for and paid online, and the UK Government recommends doing so at least 10 working days before travel to allow time for processing. Once approved, the visa is collected on arrival at Abidjan airport.
Required documents
- Passport valid for at least six months for the whole length of the trip.
- Visa, or the printed confirmation of approved pre-registration if applying online.
- International vaccination card with yellow fever, which is checked at the airport.
- Travellers arriving from a country with an Ebola outbreak, such as the Democratic Republic of the Congo or Uganda, undergo health screening and may be monitored for up to 21 days.
Transit rules
Short-stay visas can be extended by three months once in the country. Go to the Sûreté Nationale, on Place de la République in the Plateau district of Abidjan, within the three days before the visa expires, with the passport and a photocopy of the data page, a passport photo, a certificate of accommodation or hotel booking covering the extension and the fee in cash or with a payment receipt from Banque Atlantique or Ecobank.
