Do you need a different visa for Algiers, Oran, or Constantine?
No. Algeria sets the requirements, so entering through Algiers asks for the same as entering through Oran or Constantine. If you're arriving overland or through a small border post, check that separately: some countries apply their own rules to specific crossings.
What does change is where you file the application when a visa is needed, and that depends on the country you live in rather than the city you're travelling to.
What draws travelers to Algeria
Algeria is the largest country in Africa and holds a first-rank Roman and Saharan heritage that barely sees any tourism. In the north, three exceptionally preserved Roman cities: Djémila and Timgad, in the mountainous interior, and Tipasa, on the Mediterranean, with Punic, Roman and early Christian layers. In Algiers, the Ottoman Casbah — a World Heritage site — is a maze of hillside alleys above the bay. In the desert, the M'Zab Valley (Ghardaïa and its 11th-century Ibadi pentapolis) is a lesson in Saharan urbanism that influenced 20th-century architects. Tassili n'Ajjer, in the far southeast, holds one of the world's most important sets of prehistoric rock art among eroded sandstone formations; it is a mixed site (cultural and natural). The list is rounded out by Al Qal'a of Beni Hammad, the first Hammadid capital. Algeria has 7 UNESCO World Heritage sites. Travel to the Sahara (Djanet, Tassili, Hoggar) must be organized through an authorized agency. Spain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises against any travel outside urban centres in the border areas with Mali, Libya, Tunisia and Niger, advises against independent desert travel, and advises against the area of the Tindouf camps because of a terrorist threat against Spanish citizens.
