Verified practical details
You don't need a visa to enter Dominican Republic, but here are some practical details worth knowing before you travel:
Authorisation system
E-Ticket
A mandatory electronic form (migration, customs, and health in one) for every traveller regardless of nationality, before entering or leaving the country: unlike Colombia's CheckMig, this one is legally mandatory. It folds in the former "Tourist Card": since 25 April 2018 it's bundled into air tickets issued outside the DR, so most travellers pay nothing extra on arrival; the card's own reference cost, when handled separately, is USD 10 and authorises a single entry.

10 USD
USD 10 is the reference cost of the Tourist Card/E-Ticket when handled independently; for the vast majority of travellers arriving on a commercial flight it's already bundled into the ticket issued outside the DR, so it isn't paid separately.
Processing time
Every traveller fills in the E-Ticket, up to 72 hours before you travel and generates the QR code you show at the airport straight away. It is mandatory and free for every nationality, both entering and leaving, and it rolls the immigration, customs and health declarations into one form.
Required documents
- E-Ticket completed online before travel (migration, customs, and health) at eticket.migracion.gob.do.
Health insurance
Not mandatory for this destination.
When travel insurance is mandatory → Travel insurance policies ↓Transit rules
Tourist stay authorised for up to 30 days; exceeding it carries no penal fine or re-entry ban, only an exit fee calculated by length of overstay (see sanciones_overstay).
More Dominican Republic rules
They don't depend on your passport, so they are on the Dominican Republic page:
Official portal: https://migracion.gob.do. Destination data verified on 22 August 2026. Sources: eticket.migracion.gob.do (official E-Ticket portal: mandatory for migration, customs, and health); migracion.gob.do (Dirección General de Migración, "Prórroga de Estadía" section; the overstay fee table was cross-checked against exteriores.gob.es/Consulados/santodomingo, an official notice from the Spanish Consulate in Santo Domingo dated 7 March 2025 that reproduces the same full table); dgii.gov.do (legal origin of the Tourist Card, Ley 199-67); aduanas.gob.do (DGA: "Manual del Viajero": 5-litre alcohol allowance, 20 cigarette packs/25 cigars/200g tobacco, gifts up to USD 500 every 3 months; Law 155-17 for the USD 10,000 cash declaration threshold, a figure consistently cited by secondary sources since the DGA's FAQ page doesn't spell it out explicitly) (checked 22 August 2026).
Travel insurance for Dominican Republic
It isn't listed as mandatory for this entry, but without insurance, medical care during the trip can get expensive.
