Peru visa requirements for Moroccan citizens

The visa relationship between Morocco and Peru is not reciprocal: a Peruvian enters Morocco visa-free for tourism, but a Moroccan needs a tourist visa to enter Peru. That visa is applied for at the Consular Section of the Embassy of Peru in Rabat (16, Rue d'Ifrane, Plaza Perú), the only Peruvian office in Morocco that issues visas: the honorary consulates in Casablanca, Tangier and Fez do not. It is an ordinary consular visa (not electronic) and each application is assessed individually by the consul; bring a passport valid for at least six months, the application form, accommodation booking, itinerary and proof of funds. The consular fee for the tourist visa is EUR 30. The maximum stay Peru grants is 90 days, extendable before the National Superintendency of Migration up to 183 days in total.

Processing time

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs publishes no common timeframe: each consular office sets its own, and may also ask for an interview or further documents. As a reference, the consular section in Nairobi says it sends the result in approximately 7 working days after the interview.

Required documents

• Passport valid for at least 6 months from entry into Peru
• One colour passport-size photograph (some consulates ask for two or a specific format)
• Return ticket or booking to Peru
• Hotel or package tour booking for the whole stay, or an invitation letter legalised by Peru's Ministry of Foreign Affairs
• Proof of financial means (recent bank statement; several consulates ask for the last three months)
• Depending on the consulate, also: criminal record certificate, proof of legal residence in the country where you apply, form DGC-005 or a letter explaining the purpose of travel
• At many consulates the application is filed online on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs e-SAMI platform, with the payment receipt attached

Transit rules

Migraciones sets the authorised stay when it stamps your entry. A tourist can stay up to 183 calendar days, cumulative over a 365-day period counted from the first entry, unless a visa exemption agreement sets a different limit. If less is granted, the law provides for an extension up to 183 days, unless the agreement rules it out. In its information for tourists, Migraciones mentions only one online extension procedure, the one for Andean Community nationals (Bolivia, Colombia and Ecuador), up to 180 days a year.
