Unlike Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico or Peru, Uruguay is not on the list of countries whose nationals enter Morocco visa-free, so a Uruguayan passport needs a visa for tourism. Uruguay is also not among the nationalities that can apply for the Moroccan e-Visa on the passport alone (that list is limited to a specific group of countries such as India, Israel, Thailand, Vietnam or Guatemala). The e-Visa may still be open to a Uruguayan who holds a valid visa or residence from the European Union/Schengen, the United States or the United Kingdom: check the current list and conditions on the official portal acces-maroc.ma before ruling this route out. Anyone who does not fit that case applies for the consular visa at the Consulate General of Morocco in Montevideo (Reconquista 517, 8th floor), the only Moroccan mission in the country; the Embassy of Morocco in Buenos Aires covers the region as an alternative. A passport with at least six months' validity and proof of an onward ticket out of Morocco are required.

Required documents
- Passport valid for longer than the planned stay. For the eVisa, the passport must also be an ordinary one with at least 90 days of validity on the date of application.
- Colour photo: one of 35 x 45 mm meeting the ICAO standard for the eVisa, or two of 4 x 3 cm on a white background for the consular visa.
- Return ticket. It is asked of travellers with an eVisa or a consular visa, and border police may require any traveller to show guarantees of their repatriation.
- Consular visa only: a hotel booking or a travel agency voucher, or a legalised invitation certificate when visiting family.
- Sufficient means of support, which border police may check with any traveller. For the consular visa, a bank statement is required.

Morocco's transit visa authorises you to cross the country's territory on the way to a third State. It is issued for one or two transits, and the stay for each may not exceed 72 hours. In exceptional cases the security services may issue short-stay and transit visas at the border post itself. One limitation to keep in mind before entering: once inside Morocco, changing the type of visa already obtained is not allowed.
