Consular Section of the Embassy of Peru in Havana: online application on e-SAMI and appointment by email (consulado@embaperu.org) to pay the fee

A Cuban needs a tourist visa for Peru, and it is handled by the Consular Section of the Embassy of Peru in Havana. The visa allows up to 183 days in Peru, in one stay or several visits, within the twelve months after it is issued, and the immigration officer decides how many days to grant when stamping the passport. The application is made online on Migraciones' e-SAMI platform: you create a user account, fill in the form and upload the documents. To pay the 30 € fee in cash you must book an appointment at the consular office by email to consulado@embaperu.org, and then upload the receipt to the platform. The requirements are written for Cuba: a passport and identity card valid for at least six months with three blank pages; a bank statement for the last six months showing a steady minimum balance of 1,500 € or 637,500 CUP, with transactions and the account's origin document (cash is not accepted); a property title certificate for the applicant's home issued in the last twelve months, not needed if you already travelled to Peru on an earlier visa; a police certificate for adults, without MINREX legalisation; a return ticket with fixed dates that can be checked on the airline's website, no pre-bookings; a hotel booking for the whole stay or an invitation letter legalised before a Peruvian notary; and a document showing ties to Cuba, such as an employment contract, a self-employment card, a vehicle title, a MIPYME certificate, a remittance record or valid United States, Canada or Schengen visas. The consul assesses each case and the answer arrives by email.

Transit rules

Migraciones sets the authorised stay when it stamps your entry. A tourist can stay up to 183 calendar days, cumulative over a 365-day period counted from the first entry, unless a visa exemption agreement sets a different limit. If less is granted, the law provides for an extension up to 183 days, unless the agreement rules it out. In its information for tourists, Migraciones mentions only one online extension procedure, the one for Andean Community nationals (Bolivia, Colombia and Ecuador), up to 180 days a year.
