Entry requirements

Uruguay visa requirements for Cuban citizens

Cuban citizens need a visa for Uruguay and must apply for it before the trip at a consulate or embassy.

Minimum passport validity
No minimum: it just has to be valid

How this visa is processed

Consular Section of the Embassy of Uruguay in Havana (Calle 36 No. 716, Miramar)

Cuban nationals need a consular tourist visa for Uruguay; it cannot be obtained on arrival. A fee of EUR 45 is paid in advance when booking the appointment (payment does not imply approval) and within the next 30 days the documents are sent by email to cdlahabana@mrree.gub.uy. The corridor-specific point is that the application is not decided by the consulate in Havana: the file is forwarded to the National Migration Directorate in Uruguay, which assesses it; only if it is accepted is an interview date assigned (Monday to Thursday) at the consulate. There are two routes: on your own means (you must show around EUR 2,000 in funds plus a hotel booking) or on a letter of invitation from a Uruguayan citizen or legal resident who takes on financial responsibility. The visa granted is valid for 180 days from issuance, allows multiple entries and stays of up to 90 days; after approval there are 60 days to have the visa stamped. Start the process about six months ahead because of demand.
